I have been actively involved in the digital revolution since 1980 and fascinated with the artistic potential of computers since coming into contact with the early digital experimentation of John Whitney in the early 1970s. My commercial experience in film, video, computer graphics, and multimedia has ultimately led me to my own creative muse.
My work is an exploration of form, symbols, and the imagination. I primarily use classical architectural forms because they are some of the most enduring and fascinating expressions of our human development. They are the shards of our collective history, our spirituality and experience, and they speak to our subconscious mind. The column, the arch, the dome, are iconic images that transcend cultures and evoke wonder, mystery, and an urge to explore the beyond.
The use of color, structure, and juxtaposition are equally important elements in my work, tying it together into a visually rich environment.
For me art is a voyage of discovery, experimentation, fascination and the joy of creating works that draw and speak to the viewer. Like all things in life, it's about the journey.
The images that form the base of my art are drawn from original photographs from my own (constantly growing) collection dating to the 19th and early 20th centuries. The computer, scanner, and software are the tools of my medium. With them I endeavor to take disperate images and create unique worlds.
